Solar Garden Ornaments Add Light And Charm

Solar garden ornaments are a great way to add light and charm to your garden. These ornaments can be used in a dark corner at night to add security and, because they are solar, there is no need for electrical wiring.

Solar lighting today allows people to enjoy more of their garden. The lights come on during the cool dusk hours so that you can see where you are going. Proper lighting may prevent accidents such as trip and fall problems.

Lights are a great addition to your garden, but ornaments can add fun. You will find flowers, insects, gnomes and holiday decorations that can all be used to brighten up your garden. Since they are powered by solar cells, the batteries are charged again each day and the lamps shine for several hours each evening.

When summer arrives you might choose to add birds and insects that have been suspended using fine wires from tree limbs to give a floating light effect. Solar lit flowers on long stems can rise out of flower beds. Frogs and turtles may line a path. A fiber optic light makes a dazzling display.

Which Is The Best Way To Eradicate Termites?

The issue of which is the best termite treatment? is a tricky one to settle, because the answer relies partly on your point of view on the extensive deployment of chemicals. The debate on the use of chemical pesticides has been raging since the Second World War and even before.

In the Forties and Fifties, a lot of countries that had been affected by the hostilities had grave bomb and shell damage, so the local authorities took advantage of the clean-up to destroy all the old inner city ghettos.

As they did so they observed plagues, simply plagues of bed bugs, cockroaches, rats and other pests, so they spread chemical killers such as DDT everywhere in vast quantities. A similar process, for different reasons, was carried out in the United States.

This had the desired effect of killing the pests, but there was already unease, that insects may become immune to these pesticides. The use of DDT was later proscribed. The qualms of those who worried about insects becoming immune, were at least partly warranted and so the debate goes on on. In this article, we will look exclusively at: which is the best termite treatment.

Cultivating Garlic

The right climate and soil conditions are needed for growing garlic. There are three major groupings of garlic but the one discussed here is the most common variety, the white, which is found in your local grocery.

How well garlic grows for you will depend on the area where you live. Garlic is grown from Central America to New York. Garlic from New York is purple, while garlic from California is silver.

How to prepare the soil for your garlic plants:

The pH should be 6.5, unless there is limestone in the soil. The soil should be drained very well and fertile. You should lime your soil on a monthly basis. The compost is necessary and should be well rotted.

The best time to plant:

Planting garlic is a long term thing. In warm climates the garlic can be planted in early winter. These plants will be dormant for several weeks. The winter planting should be done to establish roots and shoots that will later bud. The side buds will turn into garlic cloves as spring sets in. Some gardeners prefer to grow in early spring but they do face many problems with their planting like poor root growth and wet soil conditions. If you live in an area of mild temperatures, you can plant in autumn. The plants will have a root system and possibly a small growth above ground but with heavy mulching they will withstand the cold temperatures, snow and ice of the winter months. Mulch should be removed in the spring.

Which Power Tools Should You Choose?

Trying to choose the right type of power tools is never easy and much depends on what you intend to use them for and with all the technological growth in this area, tools are becoming more and more advanced, even tools like screwdrivers and angle grinders. Choosing between cordless and corded used to be an easy decision, however new battery technology is making the decision less straight forward.

Even though there has been so many advancements in power tool technology, this doesn’t mean that good old fashioned corded tools have been left on the shelf. In fact the old corded tools that many of us may remember have been transformed into effective, accurate and light weight devices and generally perform better than any cordless equivalent.

Obviously cordless equipment can never be written off as what it lacks in power and performance, it makes up for in far superior mobility and nimbleness. Trying to decide which type of tool is right for your situation and a few general factors needs to be considered before committing.

Some Benefits Of A Different Type Of Lawn Mower

What some people might not know is that there are lawn mowers that do not run on gasoline. The electric lawn mower is very environmentally friendly. Here are some reasons why you might want to consider this type of mower.

Over the years technology has greatly improved the rechargeable battery, and there is no longer a need to have a long extension cord in order to operate an electric lawn mower. These highly advanced cordless wonders operate off a typical 24V rechargeable battery, and there are units that have 36V of power.

You will never worry about running out of gasoline again. And that means you never have to put up with spilling fuel on yourself, or on the mower, or have to remember to check and see if your mower even needs any gasoline. When you consider the price of fuel, converting to an electric mower is also much more cost and energy efficient.
